Mexicans Saul “Baby” Juarez and Mario “Mayonesas” Andrade, both fought to accrue, but drew, so Saul conserves his Latin minimumweight title of the World Boxing Council.
At the BlackBerry Auditorium in Mexico City, “Baby” and “Mayonesas” fought hard and each had their moments. But it was level pegging, ending with scores of 96-93 for Saul, 95-94 for the challenger and 95-95.
Andrade took advantage of his greater stature and reach and with the jab kept Saul away in the first few rounds, also connecting with jolting punches.
However, at the end of eight rounds patient and persistent “Baby” had edged ahead with partial scores of 75-74, 75-73 and 76-75. So the challenger came out in the ninth looking for the knockout. His unrelenting pressure managed to capture the two last rounds.
With this result, Baby’s” record is now 24-8-2, 13 KO´s. While Andrade’s pro mark is now 13-7-6, 3 KO´s.
