TELEVISA PRESENTS “SABADOS DE BOX 2018”

The tradition of boxing Saturdays in Mexico is back… and how!

The official presentation of this year’s  boxing activity via Televisa Deportes, where it was announced that the contract with the Promociones del Pueblo  extended three years, providing  40 cards per annum.

World champions Abner Mares, Mariana Juarez, Rey Vargas and Esmeralda Moreno, as well as prospects Eduardo Hernández and Misael Rodríguez, are part of a group of boxers who seek to shine down the line  in 2018, with a possible card to be held at the giant Azteca stadium.

Oswaldo Küchle, who’s the supremo of Promociones del Pueblo, stressed that in 2017 they had an attendance average of more than eight thousand fans per card.  Also  greeting new world champions Rey Vargas, Juan Hernández and Mariana Juárez, in addition to a historical card held for the very first time in Mexico City’s Zocalo Plaza.

For this year, he said that the Televisa´s boxing series will start  with Jorge Linares and Lucas Matthysse, and then on February 10th, Ciudad Juarez with local hero Miguel Román, Lindolfo Delgado and Diana “Bonita” Fernandez.

With at least 40 boxing Saturdays in the year, he added that there’s a planned  fight  for Abner Mares in Mexico, perhaps in Cancun, plus exotic locations, especially historic plazas throughout Mexico.

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman said that 2017 was a quality year with brilliant and memorable championship fights.

World champions such as Rey Vargas Abner Mares, Mariana “Barby” Juárez and Esmeralda Moreno attended this presentation, as well as former champs Jhonny González and Julio “Pollito” Ceja.
Also in attendance were: Francisco “Chihuas” Rodríguez, Juan “Churritos” Hernandez, Cristian “Diamante” Mijares, Ibeth “Roca” Zamora; and the Rio 2016 Olympians, Misael “Chino” Rodríguez, Juan Pablo “Pivi” Romero, Elias Emigdio and Lindolfo Delgado, Rodrigo “Gatito” Guerrero, Felipe Orucuta, Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez, Joseph “Diamante” Aguirre, Marco “Dorado” Reyes, Lourdes Juárez, Diana “Bonita” Fernández, Josesito Felix and Jorge “Estruendo” Sánchez.
