Tevin Farmer no longer interested in Gervonta Davis showdown

Now that Gervonta Davis has been stripped of his world title, Tevin Farmer doesn’t see the point in facing him at this time.

Junior lightweight contender Tevin Farmer is basically all squared away to take on Kenichi Ogawa for the vacant IBF title in December, a title that became vacant when rival Gervonta Davis missed weight on the Mayweather-McGregor undercard.

Farmer and Davis have a history of bad blood and getting into it with one another, with Farmer long seeking a bout with Davis. But with Davis no longer holding a world title, Farmer says he just doesn’t see the point in pursuing him any longer.

Check out what Farmer had to say to FightHub after this weekend’s Showtime card in Brooklyn.

“No, I don’t want that fight,” Farmer stated. “Why would it be beneficial to me?”

“He gotta win a title, that’s what he gotta do…I wanted to beat his ass and take his belt but he don’t have it anymore. He lost it on the scale, undisciplined, so what he gotta do is, he gotta work his ass back up to the top – like I had to do. And then we can talk.”

Then, when asked about if there were any ever serious discussions with Floyd Mayweather for him to face Davis, Farmer says never.

“They didn’t want that fight, I wanted that fight. You see in the Floyd interview he’s like ‘we’re not worried about Tevin, Tevin need to go get a belt.’ So on and so on…I’ma have my belt December 9th. He ain’t got his now so, I guess the fight won’t happen.

“Miguel Berchelt, that’s who I want. I definitely want to unify with him. Get the WBC, get the IBF, be the unified champion, and from there we’ll see what’s next.”

It looks like the tables have finally turned.
