Tevin Farmer talks Kenichi Ogawa’s failed drug test, fighting for title again

Farmer says he’s just happy he’ll get another shot at the title.

While in attendance to catch the Errol Spence vs. Lamont Peterson fight in Brooklyn, junior lightweight contender Tevin Farmer talks about his thoughts on Kenichi Ogawa testing positive for banned substances, which may have contributed to him losing out on his first shot at a world title.

Farmer on Ogawa testing positive for banned substances:

“It is what it is. I mean he got caught on steroids, I ain’t happy, I ain’t mad — it is what it is. I mean, I get another shot — I am happy about that — but as far as him being on steroids, I don’t really care.”

On if he feels like he’s been cheated twice (with the questionable scorecards on top of the failed drug test):

“Um, I got cheated once, I know that — [from] the judges but I wouldn’t say twice because the only way I got cheated twice is if he was on steroids and he beat me. He didn’t beat me. I beat his ass on steroids. So I got cheated once by the judges and at the end of the day the Nevada Athletic Commission, they gonna handle that part.”

On if he gains confidence from believing he beat Ogawa while he was on performance enhancing substances:

“I wouldn’t say it gives me more confidence. I can’t get no more confident. I’m confident as a mothafucker. Nothing else can make me more confident, I got all the confidence in the world. I don’t need confirmation, I am who I am.”

On what’s next for him:

“What’s next for me is to go get my world title. As far as names, they gotta find somebody to fight me. I’m the guy that’s about to fight for the title so they gotta find somebody to fight me, I ain’t looking for nobody, I’ma let them come to me. I did my searching all these years, nobody stepped up, so now I’m fighting for my title again. Whoever wanna fight, I mean, I’ll walk with ’em but I’m not screaming no names…”
