THE big challenge is on WBC Asia flyweight championship between Gretel dela Paz of Elorde Stable and Carleans “Chay” Rivas of Highland Stable on Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at PICC in Pasay City.
The 25-year old Dela Paz [5W-4L] is a Philippine female bantamweight champion while Rivas, 29 [6W-6L-3D] is a former Philippine female flyweight champion.
Dela Paz previously lost to Japan’s Miyo Yoshida via a technical decision in the 5th round in Korakuen Hall last Aug. 20 in the OPBF female bantamweight championship.
But Dela Paz earlier won against Gulasal Atakulova by a unanimous decision last March 17 in One City Grand Ballroom in Subang Jaya.
Dela Paz also lost to Cherneka Johnson by UD for the vacant WBA Oceania female bantamweight last Dec. 9, 2017.
Rivas, on the other hand, suffered two successive fights in Japan. She first bowed to Tenkai Tsunami by a technical knockout in the 2nd round last Nov. 29, 2017, then lost to Yumemi Ikemoto by UD last July 29, 2018.
Rivas last won against Floryvic Montero by majority decision last Aug. 25, 2017.
