The photo of the first encounter between the British Callum Smith and the Mexican star Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez provoked a great visual impact: the difference in height between the two made it clear that this is an unequal fight and the Aztec should keep this in mind before the bell rings.

Smith is the tallest boxer Alvarez has ever fought since he started as a professional in 2005. He is as tall as a basketball player with his 6’3″, but that is not all, the undefeated UK champion has a range of 78″, with extended arms, which he plays well to establish distance with “Canelo”, whom he surpasses with 7″ in size and 7″ in range.

Checking the records of Canelo’s opponents, Smith is taller than Sergey Kovalev ( 6′), who Canelo managed to knock out at the end of round 11 in November last year in Las Vegas. On this occasion, the Mexican had to work in shorts to eliminate the advantages, and that is what we suppose he will do on Saturday, December 19, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

It would not be fair to compare them both with the story of David with the giant Goliath because of the size issue, as we all know the quality of the four-time champion Alvarez, his thrust, tactical intelligence, movements in the ring. But if there is something that Smith must take advantage of, it is the gift of Mother Nature: his height.
