The key to Clavel vs. Vargas

Tomorrow night, NABF champion Kim Clavel will face Mexico’s María Soledad Vargas, from Morelia, at the IGA Stadium in Montreal.

Vargas (15-3-1, 1KO) represents the biggest challenge so far for Clavel in her career, in this 10-round matchup for the prestigious WBC silver light flyweight title. Vargas is undefeated in her last 8 fights, since 2017. In 2019, she fought WBC 105-pound champion Fabiana Bytygi (17-0-1, 5KO) in the Czech Republic, and they drew in a fabulous fight.

Kim Clavel reaches this one with a record of 13-0, 2 knockouts. In November, she defeated Mexican Bárbara Martínez by points, over six rounds.

This Friday the official weigh-in of the evening took place. Clavel weighed 107.8 pounds, while Vargas registered 107.4 pounds.
