Saturday was a key day in the gradual return of boxing to the world spotlight. Matchroom Fight Camp’s first evening featured five major bouts and was a great success in Brentwood, eastern England, where Eddie Hearn’s company is launching this major project.

Super Welterweight Ted Cheeseman was the star of the show, beating Sam Eggington by unanimous decision in the main fight. It also featured World Boxing Association (WBA) International Lightweight Champion James Tennyson, who scored a six-round TKO victory over Gavin Gwynne in a bout where his WBA belt was not at stake.

Jordan Gill, former WBA International Featherweight Champion, beat Reece Belloti by unanimous decision in 10 rounds. 25-year-old Heavyweight Fabio Wardley kept up his undefeated record by knocking out Simon Vallily in three rounds, while Super Lightweight Dalton Smith knocked out Nathan Bennett in the Lightweight division on the first bout of the day.

The “Matchroom Fight Camp” is a great project for the promotions company and contributes to the reactivation of boxing in a safe way all over the world. The WBA is satisfied with the show held in Brentwood and is looking forward to the following dates of this great initiative.
