THAILAND’S Anurak Thisa retained his PAN Asia Boxing Association (PABA) super bantamweight title by scoring a unanimous decision against Filipino challenger Edison Berwela last Thursday afternoon (Aug. 31) at the Thonbri University in Bangkok. …
Thisa landed more telling blows against Berwela to score his 19th win against only one loss with six knockouts.
It was the 12th title defense by the 25-year old Thisa alias Nop Kratingdaenggym.
Thisa and Berwela were supposed to fight already in 2013 when the Thai was still not yet a champion. But Berwela was replaced by another Filipino Jovil Marayan, who lost to Thisa by points in their 6-rounder match held in Siam Park, Bangkok.
Thisa then beat another Filipino Jun Piacidad also by a decision in six rounds before capturing the interim PABA super bantamweight title by a unanimous decision on Skak Max on October 11, 2013 in Bangkok.
Thisa had earlier successfully defended his crown against 11 challengers including five Filipinos – Renren Pasignahin, Daniel Ferreras, Eranib Semillano, Jemmy Gobel and Junar Adante.
The Thisa-Berwela 12-round title fight was promoted by Nirat Galaxy Promotions.
