It took Alejandra “Tigre” Jiménez just fifty seven seconds and three successive right hooks delivered to the head to KO the American Carlette Ewell and successfully defend her World Boxing Council heavyweight crown for the first time.
After more than a year since conquering the crown “Tigre” Jiménez returned with a massive triple hammer force to thrill, surprise and delight the Zócalo of Mexico City, crammed with 20 thousand fans.
From the beginning, the Mexican came out determined to prove just why she is world monarch and in less than a minute she applied three mighty big hand strokes to the head of the hapless challenger, sending her to the canvas for a lighting quick knockout. In addition to making history, it was the first world title bout in history in the Zocalo. Alejandra improved her record to 7-0, including five KO’s while Carlette, slipped to 16-9-1, nine by knockout. Carlette stayed on the canvass for some time. Not just due to the punches- the third of which was devastating, but also due to an ankle injury, sustained in the canvassing.
