Affable Alejandra Jimenez retained her World Boxing Council heavyweight title by TKO’ing Canadian Vanessa Lepage in the third round on Saturday at the Oasis Arena Cancun in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
“La Tigre” Jiménez imposed her power overwhelming the Canadian, wading in with hard straight rights after walking through much of what her smaller opponent had on offer. In so doing Alejandra maintains her undefeated record and the WBC crown.
With both fighters looking considerably corpulent, even for heavyweights “Tigre” (9-0, 7 KOs) was superior right from the off, against a fledgling pro contender (3-1, 1 KO), who we were told had been part of Canada’s Olympic team.
In the third round Alejandra let her hands go, slamming multiple lefts and rights into to fresh faced Canadian, who tried to escape, but couldn’t get off the hook. Suntanned Californian Referee Thomas Taylor stopped the fight at one minute and twenty seconds.
A celebrating Alejandra even did a gig with her delighted Promoter Pepe Gomez.
