Tip top “Alacran” ready to land stingers!

World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt is at  weight and in fabulous physical condition for the third defense of his crown this Saturday at Polifórum Zamná in Mérida, Yucatán, which  will broadcast by Azteca 7 , and for the United States through ESPN.

Berchelt (33-1, 29 kos) will defend the  green and gold belt against the experienced former world champion Jonathan Yoni ¨ Barros (45-5-1, 22 kos) in another great Zanfer promotion of Fernando Beltrán and Max Boxing by Mario Abraham Xacur.

Berchelt arrived to  Mérida at the weekend and swiftly returned to his roots, training at the legendary San Francisco de Asís Gym, on 61st and 42nd streets in Colonia Centro.

“Alacrán” Berchelt skipped rope, did some shadow boxing, hit the mitts, looking sharp and focused.

“I feel very motivated and I am even more excited coming to this legendary gym, where I dreamed of being a world champion. Also…fighting in Mérida as a champion is something that I always wanted.”

The San Francisco de Asis Gymnasium has moulded and developed  Madera, Espadas and Castillo.  Miguel Berchelt has scheduled several public events in Mérida starting this Tuesday where he will be signing autographs, training, doing a press conference. The full program, will be soon be announced.
