THE fight of World Boxing Association super light flyweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi of Japan and undefeated Thanongsak Simsri of Thailand was canceled after the Japanese were found positive of COVID-19 right after their weigh-in today (Nov. 2).
Kyoguchi’s trainer was also found positive.
The main fight was immediately canceled together with the three other scheduled fights.
It was not known if they were paid already by the promoter Hitoshi Watanabe.
The 27-year old Kyoguchi (14W-0L, 9KO) was weigh-in at 107.5 while Simsri was 107.3. They went home after the weigh-in right after lunch.
They were only informed about the development in the afternoon already. They might reset the fight in December.
Kyoguchi last beat Tetsuya Hisada by a unanimous decision last Oct. 1, 2019, in EDION Arena in Osaka.
The 20-year old Simri (14W-0L, 12KO) and his team were scheduled to go home to Thailand on Nov. 4.
