European fans are rejoicing as the UFC has confirmed the booking of Tom Duquesnoy versusNathaniel Wood at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas.
MMANytt.com first reported the news last week. UFC confirmed the booking through its social media channels on Thursday morning.
The bout will pit a former BAMMA bantamweight and featherweight champion, Duquesnoy, against a former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion, Wood.
Duquesnoy (16-2-0) bounced back into the win column with a unanimous decision nod overTerrion Ware at UFC London in March. He lost his first contest as a UFC fighter before that, dropping a decision to Cody Stamann. He debuted under the UFC banner in April 2017 with a second-round stoppage of Patrick Williams. Ahead of his signing in 2017, “Fire Kid” was considered one of the best prospects in MMA.
In his last outing, Wood (14-3-0) opened his UFC account with a dramatic second-round submission win over experienced Brazilian, Johnny Eduardo. Wood was considered one of the stand out up and comers in Europe on the back of a stellar four-fight winning streak with Cage Warriors. He made highlight-reel knockouts his calling card with the Graham Boylan promotion, stopping every single one of his opponents as he scaled the ranks to claim the bantamweight title.
