It has been almost a year since Tony Ferguson last saw action in the UFC. It was at UFC 216 in October, where he won he interim 155-pound title by defeating Kevin Lee via third-round submission.
“El Cucuy” was supposed to face Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 last April, but a last-minute freak accident caused him to blow out his knee and pull out of the contest during fight week. But early last week, he claimed that he has already been given clearance to fight again, after just four months of treatment and rehabilitation.
On Tuesday, Ferguson once again dropped a hint about his Octagon return. According to one of his recent tweets, he is expecting to be part of the upcoming UFC 229 card, which will be headlined by Khabib and Conor McGregor.
UFC 229 takes place on October 6th in Las Vegas. It will co-headlined by a heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Alexander Volkov.
