Last week, it was announced that former interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson would return to the Octagon against fan favorite Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at the next month’s UFC 238 pay-per-view in Chicago.
Ferguson, 35, hasn’t fought since his Fight of the Night epic against Anthony Pettis at UFC 229, which saw The Ultimate Fighter 13 winner earn a TKO stoppage in the second round.
‘El Cucuy’ has been out of action for the past few months due to mental illness, but the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu product was medically cleared to fight in April. The MMA veteran is currently riding an impressive eleven-fight win streak.
Ferguson has opened as the -190 betting favorite over +165 underdog Cerrone, who dominated lightweight standout Al Iaquinta earlier this month in the UFC Fight Night 151 main event at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Canada.
Prior to that, Cowboy knocked out UFC newcomer Alexaneder Hernandez at UFC on ESPN+ 1.
UFC 238, which will feature Ferguson vs. Cerrone on the main card, takes place next month, June 8 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
