15 months after a tough stoppage loss to Jarrett Hurd, Tony Harrison proved he’s still a factor at super welterweight tonight with a decision over veteran Ishe Smith.
Harrison (27-2, 21 KO) started strong with a brutal right cross in the third for a called knockdown, although it didn’t seem that Smith’s (29-10, 12 KO) glove actually touched the canvas.

The knockdown’s veracity proved a moot point as, despite getting wobbled late in the fifth, the younger Harrison found continued success with combination punches. Vegas judging being what it is, the fight wound up being a split decision, but Harrison still walked away with a deserved victory.

Though his chin and gas tank still hold him back, Harrison has legit skills and power. He’d at least put up a solid fight against most of the division. Smith, meanwhile, turns 40 in two months and is 4-5 in his last nine. We’ll see where he goes from here.
Just before the main event, Money Team cruiserweight prospect Andrew Tabiti (16-0, 13 KO) put veteran Lateef Kayode (21-3, 16 KO) away in six with a nasty uppercut.
