Tonya Evinger vs. Aspen Ladd slated for UFC 229

Two days after her UFC Sao Paulo opponent, Ketlen Vieira, was forced out of their bantamweight clash, Tonya Evinger has been matched with Aspen Ladd, who she will face at UFC 229 on Oct. 6.

Officials confirmed the bout to FS1’s UFC Tonight on Wednesday, following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com.

Former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, Evinger (19-7-0), is by far the most experienced opponent that Ladd has ever faced.

“Triple Threat” has been competing as a professional since 2008 and boasts notable wins over Yana KunitskayaCindy Dandois and Julie Kedzie, among others. Evinger made a her short-notice UFC debut as a featherweight against Cris Cyborg at UFC 214, suffering a third-round stoppage at the hands of the Brazilian.

For a long time, Evinger, was the most noted omission on the UFC’s bantamweight roster. Her clash with Ladd marks the first occasion where she will contest a UFC bout at her preferred weight class.

Undefeated Ladd (6-0-0) recorded a successful debut at UFC Gdansk with a second-round TKO win over Lina Lansberg. She was called up to the UFC on the back of her run with Invicta FC, having fought with the promotion since her professional debut. She took five consecutive wins under the banner including notable victory over UFC flyweight Sijara Eubanks.
