Orthodox Ryota Toyoshima scored a knockdown in the 7th round en route to a unanimous decision over Riku Nagahama to take away the OPBF welterweight title last Jan. 16 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
A right straight by Toyoshima send down Nagahama near the ropes in the 7th round.
It was only the first title-defense of Nagahama.
The judges were Tetsuya Iida (116-111), Akihiko Katsuragi (115-112), and Toshio Sugiyama (117-110).
The 25-year-old Toyoshima now has 13 wins with eight knockouts against two losses and one draw.
Nagahama, on the other hand, suffered his third setback against 12 wins and one draw.
The promoter is Shingo Suzuki of Kadoebi Jewel Promotions.
