The WBO has made up its mind regarding their “Regular” Super Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo and their Australian “Interim” Champ Tim Tszyu.
Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KO’s), was ordered to unify the WBO 154 belts against the hot, undefeated Aussie.
Instead, Jermell, 33, decided to fight Canelo, also 33, for the super middleweight title on September 30.
As a result, the WBO has decided thta on the very day when Jermell enters the ring to battle Canelo, the American will cease being WBO Super Welterweight Champ.
And also, automatically, the 28-year-old Tim Tsuyu (23-0, 17 KO’s), will be elevated from “Interim” Champ to “Regular” WBO 154 World Champion.
Jermell Charlo vs Tim Tszyu can still happen in some future, especially if Jermell loses to Canelo.
If that happens, there is no reason why Jermell would not want to come down to 154 to fight the exciting Australian son of Russian boxing legend Kostya Tszyu.
Would Tim Tszyu Defeat Jermell if they ever fight?
