Macy Chiasson is the first-ever Ultimate Fighter women’s 145-pound champion.
The 27-year-old out-grappled Invicta veteran Pannie Kianzad in the finals of the TUF 28featherweight tournament en route to a second-round submission that earned her the TUF crown Friday at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale in Las Vegas.
Right from the start, Chiasson used her size to bully the smaller Kianzad, firing away with straight punches and pressuring her against the fence. Kianzad defended well against the takedown, but made a key error at the end of round one, shooting for a takedown from long distance and ending up with Chiasson on her back.
In round two, Chiasson scored a knockdown of Kianzad against the fence and then went to work from inside Kianzad’s guard. Kianzad threatened with a belly down armbar, which Chiasson was able to slip out of. Maneuvering herself onto Kianzad’s back, Chiasson sunk her hooks in and softened Kianzad up with punches to set up a fight-ending rear-naked choke at the 2:11 mark of round two.
The victory improved Chiasson’s pro record to 3-0, while Kianzad, Iran’s first female UFC representative, fell to 10-4. During the TUF 28 filming, Chiasson picked up first-round knockouts of UFC vet Larissa Pacheco and Leah Letson on her path to the season title.
