Tyson Fury challenges Jarrell Miller to a $100, 000 spar

By Scott Gilfoid: In what appears to be an attempt to take the attention away from Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller’s impressive 2nd round knockout win over former cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek last Saturday night, Tyson Fury has challenged Miller (22-0-1, 19 KOs) to a spar or bare knuckle fight for $100,000 at his training camp at Big Bear, California.

Fury says he knocked Miller down seven times when they spared previously in Lancaster, and he thinks he can knock him down 10 times if they spar at Big Bear.

“Get yourself up here, bring $100,000, and me and you will have a spar,” Fury said to Michael Benson about Jarrell Miller on his social media.”Winner take all, cash. I put you down seven times in Lancaster, Lancashire. I’ll put you down 10 times in Big Bear, California, you fat p—k. Bring yourself up here anytime, anyplace and anywhere. If you want to spar or if you want a bare knuckle fight, get yourself up here, you fat p—k,” Fury said.

Besides what appears to be a clear effort on Fury’s part to take away the attention from Miller’s devastating knockout of Adamek (53-6, 31 KOs) last Saturday night on DAZN at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois, it puts the 6’9” ‘Gypsy King’ in position where he could suffer an injury against the huge 317 pound Miller and thus be forced to pull out of his title challenge against World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder on December 1 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Big Baby’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been protecting that Fury won’t make it through training camp without suffering some kind of injury that will wipe out the Wilder fight, and he could be right. Putting Fury in with a talent like Miller is a BAD idea, but if he’s looking for an excuse to pull out of the Wilder fight, he could find one if the spar with Jarrell goes ahead. This is the dumbest idea I could think of for Fury to spar with Jarrell Miller to get ready for a fight with Deontay.

Fury needs to be looking to get sparring partners that are built in a similar way as the 6’7″ 215 pound Wilder. Miller is built nothing like Wilder, and it would be a waste for Fury to spar with someone with his proportions. If Fury was going to be fighting the rotund Dereck Chisora or Dillian Whyte, then sparring with ‘Big Baby’ Miller would be a good idea.
