By Jeff Aranow: The pounds are flying off former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) with him training with Ricky Hatton in making a comeback after 2 years out of the ring. Fury has lost 42 pounds, according to Hatton, and he wants to lose another 56 pounds before he fights next year.

Fury has a hearing with the UK Anti-Doping agency in December, and he’s hoping to get cleared to fight at that time.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has hopes of matching Fury against 2 of his fighters in 2018. He wants Fury to fight Tony Bellew and Anthony Joshua next year. You can say that Hearn wants to hog Fury for his promotion in 2018 if everything goes right.
Hatton recently Tweeted a photo of Fury working out at his gym, and he looked quite overweight. Fury looked so badly overweight that a lot of boxing fans expressed doubt whether he’ll ever be able to take all the weight off to become the fighter that once was. Fury is talking about wanting to lose 56 pounds, but he looks like he needs to lose a lot more weight than just 60 pounds. Fury might be 100 pounds overweight. If 60 pounds is just a starting point for Fury’s weight loss, then that’s understandable, but he’s going to need to lose more than that.
“Don’t let that picture [that Hatton tweeted] deceive you. His mobility and movement are good,” said Hatton to skysports.com about Fury. ”His hands are lightning fast, and that is when he’s carrying excess weight. He admits that he is carrying [too much weight].”
The weight has got to come off of Fury for him to have a chance of beating the guys that Eddie Hearn wants to match him against next year. If Fury is heavy for his fight with Bellew, he’ll never make it to a fight against Joshua.
Hatton notes that Fury was at his best in beating Wladimir Klitschko in his last fight in 2015. Fury went from that fight to nowhere in not fighting at all. Fury never took advantage of being a hero to many after beating Wladimir. Now, 2 years later, Fury is still trying to find his way back into the ring, and it’s not up to him. The UK Anti-Doping agency will decide this month whether to allow Fury to fight again. If they say yes, then Fury will still need to be cleared by the British boxing Board of Control, although they’re expected to give him his license back.
“He has lost three stone already, and he wants to lose another four stone,” said Hatton.
