TYSON FURY outweighed Deontay Wilder by over 40lbs as the two fighters were kept apart at the weigh-in ahead of tomorrow’s showdown for the WBC heavyweight title. Fury mocked Wilder from distance as security guards separated the rivals following a bad-tempered fight week.

Much has been made of Fury’s losing 100lbs since announcing his comeback, but it was Wilder’s weight that raised eyebrows outside the Los Angeles Convention Center. He tipped the scales at 212 1/2lbs, the lightest since his debut in 2008.

Fury – who came in at 256 1/2lbs – laughed and shouted to his fans who had swamped the media enclosure, “212 pounds? He’s got no chance. One punch. He’s gone.

“His arse is flapping, he doesn’t want to be in this fight. He’s going to be knocked out, all 212 pounds of him.”

“Talk is cheap, tomorrow is fine,” Wilder said, talking through a black studded mask. “Action speak louder than words. Tomorrow I can release everything I have got inside of me. I can’t wait.”

Fury, wearing tight Rocky Balboa stars and stripes pants and rosary beads, is actually half-pound heavier than his last bout. But, as Tyson Fury physiques go, the one he showed off today was an impressive one. With such a hefty weight advantage, his supporters will be confident he can defeat the American.

The challenger was his highest ever weight as recently as June, ending his infamous two-and-a-half year hiatus with victory over Sefer Seferi after tipping the scales at 276lbs.

For the 10-round points victory over Francesco Pianeta three months later, Fury was down to 256.

Fury has been telling the media all week that he’s more famous in America than the champion and, outside the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Englishman’s fans certainly outnumbered Wilder’s.

From as early as 9am, Fury’s followers gathered outside the Westin Bonaventure Hotel where the Media Center is situated, guzzling beers and enjoying the big fight atmosphere.

A gleeful Fury arrived in a huge black car and, as the upper half of his 6ft 9ins body emerged from the sunroof, a chorus of “There’s only one Tyson Fury” thundered through the sun-toasted air.
