Tyson Fury wants to stay active, says Haye and Bellew are both bums

As Tyson Fury continues his media blitz to let the whole world know he’s back, the former heavyweight champion tells ESPN that he’s not concerned with winning titles, he just wants to fight as much as possible because it’s what he loves doing.

“I’m not really interested in the belts, I’ve won all of them,” Fury told ESPN. “It’s about being involved in fights and keeping active, that’s all I want to be.

”If it’s big fights or small fights, all fights, because I love fighting. That’s what I love. Maybe four or five fights this year.”

Given the fact that it’s already May and Fury isn’t expected to fight until next month, you can pretty much trash the idea of 4-5 fights altogether. There’s just no way he fights that many times within the next six months. Heck, if he even fights twice before the end of the year that in and of itself would be a moral victory.

But then, when asked about his thoughts on this weekend’s rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew, Fury offered this response:

“They’re both a pair of bums,” Fury added. “Nope, no agreement [to fight Bellew in the past]. Tony Bellew’s a bum, just like David Haye.”

Hopefully we’ll get to see Fury shake the rust off sooner rather than later so he can get into some meaningful fights atop the heavyweight division, where there are a number of good fights to be made. It’s one thing to talk a big game while you’re sitting on the sidelines, and completely another when you have to back it up in the ring.
