Tonight’s double main event will see Stipe Miocic defend his UFC heavyweight title against Junior dos Santos in a rematch, while Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends her strawweight title against Jessica Andrade.
This post will cover the main PPV card.
The prelims kick off at approximately 6;30pm ET/3:30pm PT with three bouts on UFC Fight Pass. They then move over to FX (not FS1) at 8pm ET/5pm PT for the other four prelims bouts. Those are covered in a separate post. The five-fight PPV kicks off at the normal starting time of 10pm ET/7pm PT. The full lineup and schedule follows. Stipe Miocic vs. Junior dos Santos
Round 1 – Miocic with an inside leg kick. Junior returns it. Miocic walks Dos Santos down and clips him with a right. JDS responds with two leg kicks. Stipe landed with a right again. Miocic with an outside leg kick. Miocic with a left and a right close to the fence. Two rights soften up Junior’s nose. Big straight right again. Huge right sends JDS to the mat! A bevy of lefts on a turtled up Dos Santos and it is all over just like that!

Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Jessica Andrade
Round 1 – Outside leg kick from Jedrzejczyk. Another. Andrade kicks the inside of the leg. Nice right from Joanna. Andrade with two big shots! That got Joanna’s attention! Inside leg kick from Jedrzejczyk. Andrade backs her into the cage. Joanna has a mouse above her eye. Andrade picks her up twice and throws her to the mat. Joanna’s back up and she backs Andrade into the fence. Three hard knees to the body from the champ. Three inside leg kicks from Jedrzejczyk. Nice head kick. Andrade just shook her head. Straight left from Joanna. They trade kicks. Joanna with a knee to the body and a left hook. Nice jab from Jedrzejczyk. Andrade brawls into the clinch. She threw Joanna into the middle of the octagon but Jedrzejczyk popped right up and landed an elbow to the head. Close round. I’ll go 10-9 Andrade.
Round 2 – Jedrzejczyk goes right back to kicking the inside and outside of the lead leg. Nice jab from the champ. Joanna is really beating up the leg. Andrade can’t muscle into range to land anything due to a good front kick from Jedrzejczyk. Joanna’s jab is on point too. All Jedrzejczyk through the first half of the round. Right to the body from Joanna. Andrade winging bombs but coming up short. Jedrzejczyk lands a nice knee to the body and keeps pumping the jab. Jedrzejczyk lands two hard rights. Andrade picks her up and looks to slam her to the mat, but Joanna jumped up right away with a kick and a jab. Jumping head kick from Joanna while retreating. That was sweet. Andrade with a right. Joanna lighting her up with jabs and rights. Huge head kick from Jedrzejczyk but Andrade walked right through it and looked for a takedown! 10-9 Jedrzejczyk.
Round 3 – Joanna attacks the leg. Andrade catches a kick and lands a right hook. Head kick again from Jedrzejczyk. Straight left to the body from Joanna. Andrade looked for a takedown but Joanna slipped away. Leg kicks again from Jedrzejczyk. Andrade switched stances. Head kick from Joanna again. She’s kicking to the body, leg, head, everywhere. Hard knee to the body. Andrade fired back with a right hook though. Andrade appears to have a cut below her eye. Andrade ducked a huge head kick. Nice combo from Jedrzejczyk and she goes to the body. Left hook, straight left. Knee in the clinch. It’s all Joanna. Andrade is chasing. Andrade looked for a late takedown, but can’t get anything. 10-9 Jedrzejczyk.
Round 4 – Leg kicks and a big head kick from Jedrzejczyk. Nice jab. Body work. Beautiful lead right from Joanna. Andrade has landed nothing of note 90 seconds in. Head kick again from Jedrzejczyk. Huge 1-2 from Joanna and Andrade looked wobbled for the first time. Andrade clinches up and tries to work there. She’s eating knees to the body for her troubles. Andrade scoops her up and tries to slam her, but Joanna lands on her hands and pops right up. Three jabs land for Jedrzejczyk. Another inside leg kick buckles Andrade’s leg. A flush head kick lands and Andrade just eats it. Andrade brawls her way into the clinch but takes a knee to the belly and a right hook on the break. 10-9 Jedrzejczyk.
Round 5 – Jab from Joanna. Nice combo. Andrade whiffs on a big right hook, as Joanna easily circles away. Nice right cross from Jedrzejczyk. So many jabs. Body kick. Andrade misses with a spinning back fist. Short elbow from Joanna after a brief clinch. Front kick to the belly. Andrade fires back with a combo and ends with a right hook. Joanna peppers her with jabs and a right hook. Nice elbow from Jedrzejczyk. Big combo from Joanna as Andrade steps into the pocket. Jumping knee to the body. Jedrzejczyk backing off a bit in the last minute, and clinching up a bit. Huge right hook from Jedrzejczyk to close out an incredible performance. 10-9 and 49-46 Jedrzejczyk.

Demian Maia vs. Jorge Masvidal
Round 1 – Maia dives in for a takedown. Masvidal sluffs him off at first but Maia stays all over him. He’s got a leg but Masvidal continues to defend. Maia has his back and he drags him to the floor. Masvidal stands up and Maia is backpacking him with a body lock. Maia looking for the choke. He can’t get his hand underneath the chin so he opens up with punches. He’s still on his back. Masvidal is leaning him against the cage to take some of the weight off of him. He released the body lock, then reapplied it. Masvidal is trying to drag him off the side, and he finally does. Masvidal with big shots on the ground! He’s really opening up. 10-9 Maia, but Masvidal ended that round very well.
Round 2 – Masvidal has some tape loose on his glove, so they stop it briefly to cut it off. Maia shoots in but gets stuffed. Masvidal kicks the body and the leg. Another sprawl. Body kick from Masvidal. Third straight sprawl, but this time Maia grabs a leg. Masvidal landed a knee and a right though and Maia let him go. He shoots in again and looks for a leg. Maia hooked the leg and put Masvidal against the fence in a seated position. Masvidal looks for an anaconda choke. Masvidal squirmed away with 90 seconds to go. Maia’s cut on the forehead. Maia is on his back now, with Masvidal on one knee. Body lock, dragged him down. They stalled out, but Maia is in the better position. Maia with three hard punches. 10-9 Masvidal.
Round 3 – Masvidal with a hard inside leg kick. Body kick now. Maia faked a takedown attempt. Not much happening over the first 90 seconds. Maia on his bike, circling. Maia with a counter left. Body kick from Masvidal, and a jab. Maia scoops a single and threw him across the cage. He runs over and jumped on his back. Maia with some baby shots. He’s looking to secure a choke, but couldn’t get the angle right. Now he has full back mount with a body lock. Masvidal hand fighting and throwing back elbows. Maia with a few punches. Masvidal is talking trash while eating punches. Maia still looking for the choke, but ran out of time. 10-9 and 29-28 Maia.

Frankie Edgar vs. Yair Rodriguez
Round 1 – Edgar lands a right in an exchange. Edgar stalking forward. Rodriguez with a low kick. Edgar with big pressure and landing punches in bunches. Rodriguez landed an elbow in exchange. Edgar got a big slam takedown and worked in Yair’s guard. Rodriguez trying to lock him down against the cage but Edgar is staying active and landing ground and pound. Two big shots. Rodriguez looked for an arm but couldn’t secure anything. Edgar is beating him up, going old school and covering his mouth with his glove. Big elbow. A huge flurry of shots from Edgar gets the crowd going. Rodriguez is cut. All Edgar, 10-9. That’d be 10-8 if we were using the new rules.
Round 2 – Yair’s eye is almost swollen shut. Spinning kick from Rodriguez. Edgar with a takedown but Rodriguez looked for a kneebar. Edgar gets to a non-dangerous position and starts to punch. Rodriguez straightened the leg out again. Edgar with an elbow to the eye and Rodriguez has to release it. Edgar moves to mount with three minutes to go. Rodriguez rolled out but Edgar stays on top. Big elbows and Edgar is landing right to the damaged eye. Yair is trying to fight back from the bottom but doesn’t have the leverage to land hard. Edgar continues to drop hard shots. Total domination. 10-9 Edgar.
The doctor sees Yair Rodriguez’s badly damaged eye and they wave off the fight.

David Branch vs. Krzysztof Jotko
Round 1 – Branch with a jab and a winging right. Branch with some oblique kicks. Jotko caught him wit ha left hook. Branch with a takedown as Jotko was going to throw a knee. He steadily works from the top, landing the odd punch. Jotko squirmed over to the cage and got up. Short elbow in the clinch from Branch. Foot stomp from Branch. Jotko with a takedown! Didn’t see that coming. Branch got up right away and they’re back in the clinch. Branch with a low knee but the ref lets them continue. Jotko is frustrated at Branch holding him against the cage. Branch can’t get a takedown but keeps him there. Underwhelming round. 10-9 Branch.
Round 2 – Jotko with a few punches. Branch with some jabs. Jotko initiates the clinch and lands some knees to the thigh. Spinning back fist from Jotko on the break. Low kick from Branch and there’s a pause this time. Branch with the double jab. Nice left hook from Jotko. Another big shot lands. Knee to the belly from Jotko. Leg kick from Branch. Jab too. Straight left and a winging right hook from Jotko. Branch with a takedown but Jotko got up immediately. Another Jotko left. Body shot from Branch. Branch clinches up. Jotko complained about the clinch and the ref broke them almost immediately. Jotko gamed him. Wheel kick misses from Jotko. Branch with another takedown but Jotko up immediately again. 10-9 Jotko.
Round 3 – Branch with a head kick. Branch with an outside leg kick. Double jab. Branch a lot more active than Jotko early. Spinning kick blocked by Branch, and he kicks the body. Jotko with a combo coming out of a brief clinch. Branch goes low and high. They clinch up and the crowd boos. The ref separates them pretty quickly, so Branch just goes right back to it briefly. Nice jab from Branch. Branch with a takedown and he actually kept him down this time. Branch looked for a D’Arce as Jotko came up, but nothing came of it. They clinched again and the ref separated them within 10 seconds due to crowd noise. Jotko with a nice knee and a right. Knee to the body. Huge uppercut from Jotko, but Branch clinched up. Tough to score. I’ll go 10-9 and 29-28 Branch.
