Walt Harris is seizing the opportunity of a lifetime.
On Saturday, a back injury forced Derrick Lewis to withdraw at the last minute from a bout vs. former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (21-7-1) scheduled for the main card of UFC 216 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
It was officially announced on the Fight Pass preliminaries broadcast that Harris has agreed to step in for Lewis and take his spot.
Harris (10-5) was originally scheduled to fight Mark Godbeer on the Fight Pass portion of UFC 216, but he will instead be promoted to the pay-per-view main card while Godbeer has been removed from this evening’s event.
