UFC 222’s official weigh-ins went off without a hitch.
Despite competing in her first short-notice fight since the early stages of her career, Cris Cyborgsuccessfully made the featherweight limit at Friday’s weigh-ins, tipping the scales at 144.75 pounds ahead of her headlining title defense against Yana Kunitskaya.
Kunitskaya, the former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, weighed in at 144 pounds.
The last fighter to weigh-in for UFC 222 was Octagon newcomer Mackenzie Dern. The decorated jiu-jitsu black belt has struggled to hit the 115-pound strawweight limit in the past, but successfully weighed in at 116 pounds for her UFC debut, doing so with 20 minutes to spare and without the need for the hoop.
The only near-miss came when UFC women’s bantamweight contender Ketlen Vieira tipped the scales at 136.25 pounds on her first attempt. Vieira was given an extra hour to shed the extra .25 pound and ultimately did so successfully.
UFC 222 takes place March 3 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Co-main event fighters Frankie Edgar and Brian Ortega also made weight ahead of their featherweight contendership showdown.
