NEW YORK CITY — Zabit Magomedsharipov and Kyle Bochniak will go home with more than just their fight purses.
The two featherweights were awarded Fight of the Night awards for their non-stop action fight in the main card of Saturday’s UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York. Both Magomedsharipov and Bochniak will each take home an extra $50,000. The allocation of the awards was announced by UFC president Dana White at the event’s post-fight conference.
This win marks Magomedsharipov’s third straight victory in the UFC. The Dagestani fighter is 15-1 as a professional fighter. Magomedsharipov called out Yair Rodriguez in his post-fight speech.
Also announced, Chris Gruetzemacher and Olivier Aubin-Mercier will be taking home the other two $50,000 Performance of the Night awards.
Gruetzemacher defeated UFC veteran Joe Lauzon via technical knockout (corner stoppage). With this win, Gruetzemacher is 2-2 in the UFC and 14-3 in his overall MMA career. Meanwhile, Aubin-Mercier, also known as the “Canadian Gangster,” scored the quickest finish of the UFC 223 card. The lightweight fighter stopped Evan Dunham via strikes in just 53 seconds into the fight.
