What Max Holloway showed at UFC 231 can’t just be contained with one post-fight bonuses.
The UFC featherweight champion not only engaged in a memorable battle with the previously undefeated Brian Ortega in Saturday night’s main event, but he reminded everyone just what we’ve missed during his year away from the cage.
Holloway looked every bit his superb self against Ortega, but also weathered a third-round storm before finishing things off, earning a TKO due to doctor’s stoppage at 5:00 of the fourth.
That was enough to give both Holloway and Ortega a well-earned $50,000 for Fight of the Night. But it was also enough for Holloway to snag $50K more for a Performance of the night award, bringing his total bonuses to $100,000.
Thiago Santos, meanwhile, earned the evening’s other Performance of the Night. He’ll head back to Brazil with an extra $50K after ending his light heavyweight slugfest with Jimi Manuwa via second-round knockout.
The UFC announced a sellout crowd of $19,039 at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena paying a gate of $2,481,552.
