UFC 231 results: Jessica Eye gets split-decision nod over Katlyn Chookagian

is now 3-0 since going to the UFC flyweight division, and she wants a crack at the winner of UFC 231’s co-main event.

The Cleveland native earned a split-decision victory on Saturday night over Katlyn Chookagian in a hard-fought, if not exactly thrilling, contest, taking two out of three 29-28 scores at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena.

After the fight, she said she wanted the winner of the bout between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the vacant 125-pound belt.

“Whoever the winner is, alright, it’s my turn,” Eye said. “Give me my shot.”

The bout was fought at range in the standup for the bulk of the matchup, with Chookagian throwing kicks and Eye mixed counters with occasional charges forward. Chookagian picked up the pace early in the third and worked Eye to the mat and started throwing left hands. But Eye got back to her feet and once again began dictating the tempo.

“I’m a winner. Stop countiung me out.” Eye said. “Give me a chance.”

Eye improved to 14-6 with her third straight win and 10th decision victory of her career. Chookagian had a three-fight win streak snapped and dropped to 11-2.
