Santiago Ponzinibbio’s homecoming proved to be a lucrative one.
The rising welterweight contender picked up a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his fourth-round knockout of Neil Magny in the main event of UFC Argentina at Parque Roca in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
It was the perfect ending to a one-sided performance for Ponzinibbio, who has now won seven straight fights and three fight night bonuses in total.
The evening’s other Performance of the Night bonus went to newcomer Johnny Walker. A light heavyweight recently signed from Contender Series Brazil, Walker used a brutal Thai clinch to setKhalil Rountree Jr. up for a nasty fight-ending elbow in round one that earned Walker an extra five-figure check for his first UFC appearance.
Fight of the Night went to preliminary welterweights Laureano Staropoli and Hector Aldana. The two engaged in a highly entertaining back-and-forth brawl that the debuting Staropoli went on to win by unanimous decision. It was the first performance bonus for both men.
The announced attendance for UFC Argentina was 10,245.
