Chad Mendes’s comeback win got even better by the end of the night.
UFC Boise Performance of the Night bonuses were handed to Mendes and Niko Price as a reward for their thrilling knockout finishes, while Raoni Barcelos and Kurt Holobaugh earned the Fight of the Night award Saturday in Boise, Idaho.
In his first appearance since returning from a two-year USADA suspension, Mendes finished Myles Jury with strikes inside of a round to record his sixth UFC knockout and snag a $50,000 performance bonus. He is now tied for the second-most featherweight KOs in company history with Conor McGregor, trailing only UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway (7).
Price scored the evening’s other performance bonus by finishing Randy Brown with hammer fists in the second round of their welterweight contest. What made the knockout so spectacular was the fact that Price pulled it off as he was on his back, using his foot to hold Brown’s head in place for the fight-ending blows.
The debuting Barcelos pulled off his own highlight-reel KO against Holobaugh in the third round, flooring him with a precise punching combination. However, both men will leave Boise with an extra $50,000 in their pockets.
