The UFC returned from a long break (sorry Manila/Anton) in Mexico this past weekend, and an important lightweight bout on top caused a ripple in the rankings of that division. Tony Ferguson, who defeated former champ Rafael dos Anjos by exciting decision, cemented his spot as the top contender, while RDA fell from the P4P rankings with the loss. Here’s a look at all the changes this week.
P4P – As mentioned, dos Anjos is out. He was in the 12 spot. This allowed Luke Rockhold, T.J. Dillashaw, and Cris Cyborg to all move up a spot. Amanda Nunes enters the list at 15.
Heavyweight – Two new men enter at 14 and 15 – Daniel Omielanczuk and Timothy Johnson. Yeah, that’s a thing.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – No changes.
Welterweight – No changes.
Lightweight – Here we go. Ferguson is up to one. Khabib Nurmagomedov drops to two, while RDA is down to three. Beneil Dariush’s win in Mexico pushed him past Donald Cerrone for the eight spot. Evan Dunham moved to 13, bumping the retired (?) Al Iaquintato 14. Will Brooks re-enters the list at 15, despite recently losing to Alex Oliveira (who was overweight, mind you).
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – No changes.
Flyweight – Matheus Nicolau’s USADA pop removed him from the list. He had been in the ten spot. This allowed Dustin Ortiz, Justin Scoggins, Louis Smolka, Brandon Moreno, and Ray Borg to all move up one spot. Sergio Pettis makes the list at 15.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – Alexa Grasso enters the list at 14 with her win in Mexico.
