Four times, Justin Gaethje has stepped into the UFC’s Octagon.
And each time, the exciting lightweight from Arizona has left the building with at least an extra $50,000.
The former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion scored a tremendous knockout win over James Vick in the main event of UFC Lincoln on Saturday night, using a nasty overhand right to send his opponent crashing to the mat and finishing the fight in just 1:27.
And for that, he earned a Performance of the Night bonus, adding to three Fight of the Night awards in matchups against Michael Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, and Dustin Poirier. Gaethje also took home a Performance of the Night award for the Johnson fight, so Saturday’s nod brings his total to $250,000 in bonus money.
As is the custom, Gaethje was one of four award winners on the evening. Also earning a Performance of the Night bonus was middleweight Eryk Anders. The former University of Alabama football player landed a perfectly placed head kick on Tim Williams to earn a knockout in the closing seconds of the third and final round of their fight. And Fight of the Night honors went to Cory Sandhagen and Iuri Alcantara. Sandhagen won via TKO early in the second round after a wild first round.
The UFC announced a crowd of 6,409 for a gate of $478,337 at Pinnacle Bank Arena in the company’s first show in Nebraska in six years.
