What a slobber-knocker.

Robert Whittaker picked up the biggest win of his career in the main event of UFC Fight Night 101, which took place live from Melbourne, Australia on Saturday night, against Derek Brunson.

Brunson came out ridiculously aggressive, landing a barrage of shots on Whittaker. “The Reaper” appeared to be somewhat hurt, but he took all of Brunson’s shots — some of them didn’t land clean, for what it’s worth — and returned with his own.

He stormed Brunson just over four minutes into the first five minutes, and Brunson was too exhausted — and stunned — to keep going. Whittaker knocked his opponent down to the canvas, followed up with a few ground-and-pound shots until referee Herb Dean was forced to intervene.

Whittaker should now be considered a top contender in the UFC middleweight division and is likely only one win away from a shot at UFC gold. He was ranked No. 7 going into his first UFC main event.
