UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley recently underwent surgery for his injured foot and appears to be in good spirits.
The 23-year-old sent out a tweet thanking the doctors for fixing his foot and looks forward to fighting in the UFC again.
O’Malley, who was awarded a UFC contract after his appearance on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, put on a show against Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 before injuring his foot in the second round. From that point on, ‘Sugar’ did what he had to do to win and grinded out the third and final round to take home a unanimous decision.
O’Malley was awarded a $50,000 Fight of the Night win bonus and gave his post-fight interview to Joe Rogan while laying on the mat in agonizing pain. The MMA Lab representative had to be stretchered out of the Octagon and received a lengthy 180 day medical suspension.
O’Malley, who is an avid gamer, will likely be streaming on Twitch.tv while he recovers from surgery.
