Ovince Saint Preux’s finish at UFC Singapore got him extra cash in his pocket.
The light heavyweight contender was awarded a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his submission win over rising prospect Tyson Pedro in the co-main event of UFC Singapore, which took place on Saturday morning at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
The news was announced at the event’s post-fight press conference.
Saint Preux’s submission came early in the first round after being tagged by Pedro with a couple of head kicks and punches. Saint Preux was able to come back from Pedro’s early flurry and stop the Australian with a straight armbar at the 2:54 mark of round one. With the win, Saint Preux successfully bounced back from his loss to Ilir Latifi earlier this year and moved to 23-11 in his professional MMA career.
Three other fighters also earned $50,000 in Performance of the Night awards.
Yadong Song earned his bonus for his impressive stoppage of Brazil’s Felipe Arantes. Song blasted Arantes with a vicious right elbow in the closing second of round two.
Lastly, both Shane Young and Rolando Dy earned Fight of the Night awards for their wild back-and-forth brawl that ended in a second-round stoppage for Young.
