Sijara Eubanks is going to get another shot in the UFC.
The promotion is currently targeting Eubanks vs. Lauren Murphy for the June 1 UFC Fight Night card in Utica, N.Y., MMA Fighting has learned. The bout, which isn’t signed just yet, would be contested at 125 pounds.
Eubanks (2-2) made it to the finals of the most recent season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” however, she failed to make weight prior to the finale. As a result, Eubanks missed out on a chance to become the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight champion.
Murphy (10-3), a UFC veteran and former Invicta FC bantamweight champion, was also a member of TUF 26. She did not make it to the finals but beat favorite Barb Honchak at the TUF 26 Finale in December.
Nicco Montaño defeated Roxanne Modafferi to become the first-ever UFC women’s 125-pound champion late last year. Montaño is expected to fight Valentina Shevchenko in her first title defense later this year.
The event will mark the promotion’s first in Utica and will be held at the Adirondack Bank Center.
