At the Indoor Sports Center in Mdantsane, South Africa, Mexican Ulises Lara won ON the judges’ cards, to defeat the local fighter Thembelani Nxoshe, to hold aloft the vacant International Flyweight crown of the World Boxing Council.
Judge Siya Vabaza-Booi (SA) scored the bout 116-114 and his colleagues Ishmail Khoali (SA) and Eliseo Gonzalez (Mexico) scored 117-111 and 116-112.
Nxoshe never managed to land clearly on Mexican Lara, who in the 12 rounds fought appreciably better than his rival. Referee Thabo Spampool had an easy night, as both warriors fought cleanly and fairly.
