Yves Ulysse Jr got revenge for his 2017 loss to Steve Claggett tonight in the main event of the series with the catchy title, Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights, winning a 10-round decision on scores of 96-94, 97-93, 97-93.

We’d love to tell you more, but the stream was out for the latter half of the fight, which is a genuine shame, because the first half of the fight was quite good.

That also means we couldn’t score it, but Doug Fischer, calling the fight for Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights, had it 96-95 Ulysse. Doug knows a thing or two about a thing or two.

In another rematch, bantamweight Joshua Franco picked up a split decision win over Oscar Negrete on scores of 92-98, 96-94, and 97-93. They first fought in Oct. 2018, going to a 10-round draw, and went right back at it here.

This was a pretty entertaining fight, a little chippy at times, you can tell there’s a bit of actual rivalry between these two. Obviously, Franco felt he did indeed win, and Negrete thought he did indeed win, too.

“It was a close fight, it was a good fight. I came out with the victory today,” Franco said after the fight.

“I know I won. The judges just didn’t see it the way I see it. But I know I won the fight,” Negrete said. “I won the fight clearer than last time.”

Punch stats favored Negrete by a bit, if you put a lot of stock in that sort of thing.

Other results:

  • Marlen Esparza (6-0, 1 KO) returned from a year out of the ring and giving birth to her first child, scoring a shutout decision win over Jhosep Vizcaino (9-9, 3 KO). Esparza won on scores of 80-72 from all three judges. Vizcaino gave her some work, but it was a clear win for the 2012 bronze medalist, who did tire a bit in the middle rounds, but gutted it out and got her career going again with a win.
  • 20-year-old super bantamweight prospect Anthony Reyes improved to 6-0 (4 KO) with a four-round shutout win over Roberto Pucheta (10-16-1, 6 KO). Scores were 40-36 across the board.
  • 21-year-old welterweight prospect Alexis Rocha (13-0, 8 KO) picked up a solid win over tough veteran Shoki Sakai (23-10-2, 13 KO). Rocha won by unanimous decision over 10 rounds on scores of 97-93, 97-93, and 99-91. Sakai has still never been stopped.
