Undefeated Magsayo to fight ex-WBO champion Uthok on Aug. 31

DAVAO CITY — Undefeated Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo of Tacloban City will fight again on Aug. 31 against dangerous former WBO world bantamweight champion Panya Uthok of Thailand for the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council and the vacant International Boxing Federation Pan Pacific featherweight titles on Aug. 31 at the Bohol Wisdom School Gym in Tagbilaran City.It is Magsayo’s second comeback fight since he had a brief “retirement” in 2018 due to a problem with his old management.He made a first comeback fight last April 12, 2019 and face Erick Deztroyer of Indonesia for a knockout in the 4th round at The Ring Boxing Community in Singapore.Magsayo’s last bout was in Nov. 25, 2017 wherein he beat Japan’s Shota Hayashi via a unanimous decision to retain the World Boxing Organization International featherweight title.It was the third time that he won the title. Magsayo, who is now a resident of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia  won the vacant WBO International featherweight title with a TKO’d over Chris Avalos of USA in the 6th round last April 23, 2016.Uthok (53W-6L-0D, 35KO), on the other hand, is a former World Boxing Organization World bantamweight championHe lost the WBO world bantamweight title to Marlon Tapales of Lanao del Norte by a 11th round TKO last July 27, 2016.Uthok alias “Pungluang Sor Singyu Onesong” beat former OPBF super featherweight champion Carlo Magali of Bohol by a UD in Thailand last April 20, 2019.The promoter is Vikram Swapragasam of Vladimir Boxing while the matchmaker is Edmundo Dellosa.
