With Oscar Valdez set to defend his WBO featherweight title against Scott Quigg on March 10, the Top Rank on ESPN card is coming together, and the co-feature has been set, too.
Junior welterweight prospect Arnold Barboza Jr (17-0, 6 KO) will face Mike Reed (23-1, 12 KO) in a 10-round bout on the show, which will take place at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Barboza, 26, won three fights in 2017, but has yet to really step up in competition. That’s where the 25-year-old Reed comes in, even though Reed is coming off of a KO-2 loss to Jose Ramirez on November 11. It’s a crossroads fight, one where Reed will look to get back in the winner’s circle and right the ship, and one where Barboza will look to score a career-best victory.
Also tentatively scheduled for the card is super featherweight Andy Vences (20-0, 12 KO), who would take on Erick De Leon (17-0, 10 KO), plus returns for Alex Saucedo, Esquiva Falcao, and Mikaela Mayer.
