Rey Vargas easily and calmly steered through the seven-day pre-weigh in the lead up to the first defense of his World Boxing Council super bantamweight title against US challenger Ronny Rios.
Rey , who trains at the Romanza gym in Mexico City and in his hometown of Otumba, State of Mexico, met the WBC’s requirements, specifically designed and intended to preserve boxers` health, via graduated and sensible weight loss rather than sudden and highly dangerous dehydration.
The permitted weight limit seven days out, is 128 pounds, equivalent to five percent above the division limit (122 pounds), but Rey weighed a disciplined 126.3-pounds, in the final countdown to next Saturday’s much anticipated fight at StubHub Center in California.
