VBO Must Follow the Guidelines from VBF

A meeting was held between the Chairman of official Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF), Chairman Chris Luu and businessman Lim Song of the company Vietnam Boxing Organization (VBO) on July 26 in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

The purpose of the meeting was whether giving an permission or not to a coming VBO event.

The permission was granted for the VBO show to take place on August 3, 2024 at the Hoiana Resort, in accordance with the type of license that the VBO had applied for.

Importantly, the August 3 event must adhere to the IBA rules of three rounds x 3 minutes each round, the wearing of shirt, as well as the use of 12 oz gloves.

In addition, the Vietnam Boxing Federation will supervise that VBO event, and will appoint referees and inspectors.

It must be noted that that the organizing any International Boxing convention for a local group is not permissible without prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

That’s because the Ministry of Home Affairs is the government Ministry in Vietnam responsible for organizational structure of State Administration and National associations.

Furthermore, it has come to the attention of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF), that the VBO has continued promoting its August 3 event as both a professional boxing event, as well as an Asian Boxing Convention, which could be misleading and inappropriate.

Therefore, the Vietnam Boxing Federation urges the VBO to clarify this matter with all parties involved, and refrain from spreading misinformation within the boxing community.

It’s worth the clarification that the Vietnam Boxing Organization (VBO) is a limited liability company in Vietnam, operating as a business entity.

Therefore, the VBO does not have the mandate nor the authority to sanction pro fights, issue licenses, authorize boxers to fight overseas or act as a boxing commission.

By law, the one and only official body overseeing professional boxing, recognizing pro boxers, pro trainers as well as pro boxing officials in The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the Vietnam Boxing Commission.

Vào ngày 26 tháng 7, lúc 2 giờ chiều, tôi đã gặp ông Lim Song từ Vietnam Boxing Organization (VBO) và Công ty TNHH MTV Nguồn tư vấn đầu tư Châu Á (AICR). Trong cuộc họp đã có cuộc thảo luận về việc sự kiện ông Lim xin phép tổ chức đã được chấp thuận và sẽ diễn ra vào ngày 3/8/2024 tại khu nghỉ dưỡng Hoiana, tỉnh Quảng Nam.

Theo giấy phép đã xin, sự kiện sẽ tuân thủ theo luật quy định của IBA với ba hiệp mỗi hiệp 3 phút, yêu cầu vận động viên có mặc áo và găng tay 12oz. Liên đoàn Quyền anh Việt Nam sẽ giám sát sự kiện và điều động trọng tài, giám sát.

Vui lòng lưu ý rằng việc tổ chức bất kỳ cuộc Hội nghị Quyền anh quốc tế của Liên đoàn quốc gia, bầu chức danh cần có sự chấp thuận từ Bộ Nội vụ.

Chúng tôi nhận thấy rằng việc quảng cáo sự kiện này như một sự kiện Quyền anh chuyên nghiệp và một Hội nghị quyền anh quốc tế, bầu các chức danh có thể gây hiểu lầm. Chúng tôi đưa ra lời khuyên rằng nên làm sáng tỏ việc này với tất cả các bên liên quan và không tuyên truyền, quảng bá, truyền thông tin sai lệch trong cộng đồng Quyền anh.
