Victor Rabei promises to prove he is a level above Dublin rivals

The Red Corner Promotions fighter hasn’t been handed an early domestic dust up, but Victor Rabei claims his opponent provides him with the chance to get one over on two of his fellow 2017 debutants at the weight.

Damien Lawniczak [4(0)-25(3)-1] has already shared the ring with Karl Kelly and Aidan Metcalfe over the past few months, giving both good fights. Indeed Rabei [2(0)-0] claims the journey man beat former Crumlin amateur Metcalfe, and suggests that Kelly just ‘nicked’ victory against the Polish puncher.

There will be nothing close about Lawniczak’s third visit to Dublin this year though predicts ‘The Chisinau Cyclone’ andhe is promising an eye-catchingly dominant performance on the inaugural SK Promotions debut at the CityWest in Saggart.

“My opponent Lawniczak’s has fought in Dublin on the last two cards. He fought Aiden Metcalfe and Karl Kelly. I felt they were two very close fights,” he told Irish-Boxing.com before analysing the fights.

“The one against Metcalfe, I think he won that one if I am honest. Kelly won his fight but it was close and he nicked it with a good body shot. So I absolutely believe this is a great chance for me to make a statement and maybe lay down a marker.”

“The thing is the two lads fought him and they were close fights and I think I can go in and dominate. I hope to stop him in the second or third round, but we will see. If I can do that then I show the level I am at,” Rabei confidently continued before revealing that is more a statement of belief than any statement to antagonize his fellow Dublin fighters.

“That is no disrespect to the those fighters. I am just confident in my ability. I have had two good fights under my belt and I got into the third one really confident. My training camp has gone fantastic. I am building on each camp and progressing.”

Friday’s fight brings an end to Rabei’s 2018 in terms of boxing. Having made his debut just 5 months ago, he is content with how things have progressed for him as a pro this year.

“I am five months in now and five months three fights is okay,” mused the Moldovan-born fighter.

“I am happy with that. Next year I hope to keep busy next year to. I am my own worst critic and always think I can do better. In saying that, when I look back I am happy. I got a nice tough test in my first fight and in my second I went in more relaxed and speaking to the opponent afterwards he gave me some good compliments. He say after two or three rounds he didn’t want anything to do with me anymore.”

“So going into this fight I am confident and I’ll be in front of him and trade a lot more shots.”
