In the main event of M-1 Challenge 93, Bruno Silva produced a huge upset as he knocked outAlexander Shlemenko in the first round through a flurry of body shots, knees, and punches.
Prior to facing Silva, Shlemenko dropped a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 185 last November. The Russian was fighting his 67th professional fight against “Blindado”, whilst Silva entered the fight on the back of consecutive first round knockout victories.
Bruno “Blindado” Silva KO’s Alexander Shlemenko at #M1Challenge93. Storm had a strong start landing lots of body work & knees. That thugjitsu knee & uppercut changed the course of the fight. What a finish by Silva.
Silva, who was making his M-1 debut on the night, finished Shlemenko midway through the first round. Starting with a jumping knee followed by an uppercut, Silva began to tee off on a hurt Shlemenko, causing the referee to step in and award Silva his fifteenth career win by stoppage.
Shlemenko (56-11) is now a fight two-fight losing streak for the first time since 2014. This is his first knockout suffered since Jordan Radev in 2008, his first defeat in his native country of Russia since 2004, and his first loss under the M-1 banner.
