Video: Ex-UFC fighter Steve Bosse TKO’d by former world champ Jean Pascal in boxing match

Bloodyelbow.com

Former UFC fighter Steve Bosse’s (1-1, 1 KO) second professional boxing match took place on Friday night in Quebec, and to the surprise of no one, former WBC light-heavyweight (175 lbs) champion Jean Pascal (33-5-1, 20 KOs) was able to finish him, even at a heavier weight class than he’s accustomed to, contesting this at cruiserweight (200 lbs).

On-site commentary suggests that Pascal spent a decent chunk of the fight not taking his opponent seriously. Nevertheless, Pascal dropped Bosse with a left hook in round 3, but the ex-ice hockey enforcer was able to beat the count.

Pascal envoie Steve Bossé au tapis au 3ème round

Apart from round 2, ringside observers gave Pascal every round up until the 8th, when another monstrous left hook floored Bosse for a second time. While Bosse was able to get up, the referee waived the fight off, so it goes down as a TKO win for Pascal, who’d retired in December 2017 only to announce his return to take on the entertaining MMA fighter.

Here’s the ending:

Bosse was lauded for stepping into the ring with a world-class opponent, as well as showing a great chin despite taking several flush head shots throughout the fight.

Pascal wins via TKO8 over Bossé. Bossé was too slow for Pascal and just couldn’t stop Pascal’s left hand. He still did better than many thought and showed a lot of courage

Takeaway from : Bossé took the fight seriously did the best he could despite his limited skills and experience. Not sure what the point of this was for Pascal’s career and legacy.

Steve’s toughness is something MMA fans had seen when he engaged in a three-round brawl vs. Sean O’Connell, which proved to be his last UFC appearance before making a career switch to pro boxing. That said, this fight should’ve never been sanctioned, and the best you can hope out of this is that Bosse got paid a decent amount of money for an event that apparently was a box office flop. Mayweather vs. McGregor this was not, although the outcome of the MMA fighter losing to the pro boxer in a boxing match was the same.
