UFC veteran Seo Hee Ham was victorious after returning to Korea in a lighter weight class.
After 4 fights in the UFC’s strawweight division, Korean slugger Seo Hee Ham has returned to her home country to compete in a more natural weight class.
Since atomweight (105 lbs) isn’t offered in the UFC, the 5-foot-2 fighter was significantly undersized for most of her stint with the promotion. That wasn’t the case this weekend, when the female fighter known as “Hamderlei Silva” headlined Road FC 39.
She faced DEEP Jewels champion Mina Kurobe for the inaugural Road FC atomweight belt, and Ham impressed on her return to the division.
No longer dealing with a huge reach and strength disadvantage, Ham was able to land good combinations on the feet early. She then won the exchanges on the ground as well, and eventually finished her Japanese foe by TKO in the third round. With the victory, Ham won her first outing outside the UFC to improve to 17-8, and win the Road FC belt in the process.

The South Korea-based promotion’s next offering is Road FC 40, which will play host to the opening round match ups of their $1 million lightweight tournament. The stacked card features 8 tournament bouts pitting UFC vets, regional champions and top prospects from all over the world, along with 2 reserve matches.
The line up will also showcase UFC vet Riki Fukuda, and PRIDE and K-1 standout Mighty Mo, who will be competing in separate bouts on the July 15 event.
