The November 3rd Glasgow doubleheader featuring Ryan Burnett vs. Nonito Donaire and Josh Taylor vs. Ryan Martin will include a pair of backups in case any of the four pull out: Paul Butler, who faces Yoan Boyeaux, and Viktor Postol, who fights Siar Ozgul.
Butler (26-2, 14 KO) was 9-0 since a knockout loss to Zolani Tete and looked poised to recapture the IBF bantamweight belt against Emmanuel Rodriguez, only to miss weight by three pounds and get schooled by the unheralded Puerto Rican. Rodriguez recently won a split decision over Jason Moloney to reach the semifinals, where he’ll meet Naoya Inoue.
Boyeaux (41-5, 26 KO) fell to Inoue last December, snapping a 32-fight unbeaten streak against generally terrible opposition that dated back to 2015.
Postol (29-2, 12 KO) gave Taylor everything he could handle back in June despite garbage scorecards undervaluing his work. There’s an argument to be made that he’s the top 140-pounder not in the tournament besides Jose Ramirez. His opponent, Ozgul (14-1, 3 KO), is coming off of a stoppage loss in July.
